Matchawan Taro<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Taro Matchawan is a true masterpiece of ceramics and part of the tea tradition known as \u201cchado.\u201d Its color palette reminds us of the ocean depths, hence the name inspired by a Japanese legend. The tale tells the story of a young fisherman named Tar\u014d, who one day saw children tormenting a small turtle while fishing. Tar\u014d saved the turtle and released it back into the sea. The next day, a giant turtle, possibly a thousand years old, appeared before him draped in seaweed. The turtle revealed that the one he saved was Oto-hime, the daughter of the Sea Emperor, who wished to meet him to express his gratitude. Using magic, the turtle gave Tar\u014d a pair of gills and guided him to a magnificent palace at the bottom of the sea.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

Matcha bamboo whisk Chasen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Traditional bamboo whisk or \u201cchasen\u201d is an indispensable tool of the Japanese matcha tea ceremony. The fine, handmade prongs are carved out in a single piece of bamboo. When using a chasen to whisk matcha it is best to keep a loose and relaxed wrist and make rapid zigzag motions in the shape of letter \u201cW\u201d or \u201cM\u201d \u2013 this helps to give matcha the ideal frothy texture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matcha bamboo spoon Chashaku<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Chashaku is the traditional Japanese spoon for serving matcha and an integral part of the matcha tea ceremony. The curved portion of the spoon is used to scoop a small portion of tea  and place in a bowl (matchawan).  The mixture is then whisked to uniform consistency using a bamboo whisk (chasen).  The amount of matcha served depends on individual preference.  The thin tea or \u201cusucha\u201d is prepared with one or two chashaku of matcha and approximately 100ml of water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
