Nikko matcha bowl<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nikko matchawan is a handcrafted bowl destined for drinking matcha, made of stoneware clay on a rustic pottery wheel. Matchawan is a tool for Chanoyu \u2013 the ritual tea ceremony \u2013 of a centuries-old tradition. It is particularly recommended for matcha preparation and consumption. Its tall vertical walls and broad bottom facilitate the process of combining matcha powder with water and help to quickly obtain foam on the surface. It can be done with the use of a chasen \u2013 matcha bamboo whisk, or a milk frother. It is important to remember that the temperature of the liquid, in which one decides to prepare one\u2019s matcha, should not exceed 80\u00b0C. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nikko matcha bowl was created as a part of a limited edition designed for MOYA by Spiek studio, founded by Karolina Byczkowska in 2013. It\u2019s extremely lightweight and contoured in a way, which makes it perfect also for the owners of slightly smaller palms.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

Matcha preparation in a bowl<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The traditional way to prepare matcha comes from the Japanese Tea Ceremony. It involves using a matcha bowl, a bamboo whisk- chasen and a bamboo spoon- chashaku.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Place 2 chashaku spoons of matcha (1,5g) in a matcha bowl and pour 100ml of hot water (80 \u00b0C). Chasen in hand, vigorously whisk your matcha from the wrist in m-shaped, not circular, motion. In about 20 seconds your bowl should be filled with a perfect jade-green foam. You can add more water now if you like your matcha to be less strong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
