A matchawan is a traditional vessel used for preparing and drinking matcha, enhancing not only your home tea ritual but also any space it graces. The Kido matchawan feels like an object from another world. Its name, meaning orbit in Japanese, perfectly reflects the abstract, one-of-a-kind pattern adorning its irregularly shaped rim. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bowl was crafted in Toki on Japan\u2019s Honshu Island. The city\u2019s Oroshi district is renowned for producing traditional Japanese Shino ceramics, known for their unique shapes and patterns. Each matchawan is first shaped in a mold and then hand-finished to give it its distinctive character and form. Its wide base makes preparing matcha simple and enjoyable. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

Matcha preparation in a bowl<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The traditional way to prepare matcha comes from the Japanese Tea Ceremony. It involves using a matcha bowl, a bamboo whisk- chasen and a bamboo spoon- chashaku. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Place 2 chashaku spoons of matcha (1,5g) in a matcha bowl and pour 100ml of hot water (80 \u00b0C). Chasen in hand, vigorously whisk your matcha from the wrist in m-shaped, not circular, motion. In about 20 seconds your bowl should be filled with a perfect jade-green foam. You can add more water now if you like your matcha to be less strong. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
