MATCHAWAN SHIMO
Shimo is the result of an inspiring collaboration between Moya and Baobab Studio – a Polish family workshop founded by Natalia and Olaf. For them Ceramics, which they fell in love with at the Folk University in Wola SÄ™kowa, are way of life and their greatest passion. Shimo is an ideal bowl for enjoying matcha and loose-leaf teas. Each piece is unique, crafted by hand, and the speckled pattern gives it a personal character. Baobab Studio’s products are created in BiaÅ‚ystok, in picturesque Podlasie in Poland. Shimo is a unique work of art that combines Polish craftsmanship with Japanese aesthetics. The bowl is dishwasher-safe on a delicate cycle. Unused, it will be a beautiful decoration for kitchen furniture.
The traditional way to prepare matcha comes from the Japanese Tea Ceremony. It involves using a matcha bowl, a bamboo whisk- chasen and a bamboo spoon- chashaku. Place 2 chashaku spoons of matcha (1,5g) in a matcha bowl and pour 100ml of hot water (80 °C). Chasen in hand, vigorously whisk your matcha from the wrist in m-shaped, not circular, motion. In about 20 seconds your bowl should be filled with a perfect jade-green foam. You can add more water now if you like your matcha to be less strong. |
