Hagane matcha bowl is a truly unique masterpiece, gaining its distinctive identity through precise manual craftsmanship on a potter’s wheel. It originates from Gifu Prefecture, specifically the Oroshi district of Toki city, where unique vessels known as Shino have been fired for centuries. Each Hagane matcha bowl possesses subtle differences resulting from its handmade production. The brownish-gray tonality lends the bowl elegance while emphasizing its natural origin. The bowl’s color is reflected in its name, as “hagane” means “steel” in Japanese. Each bowl is one of a kind, making the matcha-drinking experience a special moment. The bowl not only beautifully decorates a shelf but also provides exceptional comfort during use. It is dishwasher-safe on a delicate cycle, making it practical for daily matcha enjoyment.
The traditional way to prepare matcha comes from the Japanese Tea Ceremony. It involves using a matcha bowl, a bamboo whisk- chasen and a bamboo spoon- chashaku.
Place 2 chashaku spoons of matcha (1,5g) in a matcha bowl and pour 100ml of hot water (80 °C). Chasen in hand, vigorously whisk your matcha from the wrist in m-shaped, not circular, motion. In about 20 seconds your bowl should be filled with a perfect jade-green foam. You can add more water now if you like your matcha to be less strong.
