Crunchy bread, slightly salty matcha butter, and sweet, golden bananas – it’s a combination you’ll keep coming back to. You can make it in just a few minutes, and the result? Café vibes at home.
Make a bigger batch of matcha butter and keep it in the fridge — it’s perfect for pancakes, oatmeal, or waffles too.

Ingredients:
- 2 slices of your favorite bread (e.g., challah, brioche, toast bread, or slightly stale artisan bread)
- 1 large banana
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1-2 tsp brown sugar
- 3 tbsp softened butter
- 1/2 – 1 tsp Moya Matcha Traditional (adjust to taste)
- Pinch of salt
- Optional toppings: sesame seeds, chopped nuts, coconut flakes, a drizzle of maple syrup
Preparation
- In a small bowl, mix the soft butter with matcha powder until smooth. Make sure there are no lumps. If you like, you can add a touch of sweetener (ex. maple syrup) to the matcha butter.
- Peel the banana and slice it in half lengthwise. Heat 1 tbsp of butter in a pan over medium heat. Once melted, add the banana slices and sprinkle with brown sugar. Cook for 1–2 minutes on each side until golden and caramelized. Remove from heat.
- While the banana is cooking, toast your bread slices in a toaster or on a dry pan until golden and crispy.
- Spread a generous layer of matcha butter over the warm toast. Top with caramelized banana slices. For extra flavor, sprinkle with a pinch of salt, sesame seeds, chopped nuts, or a drizzle of maple syrup. Serve immediately.
