How to prepare matcha?

To prepare matcha tea in the traditional way, you will need: a matcha bowl, a chasen (bamboo whisk), and a chashaku (bamboo spoon).

01

Put two scoops of matcha (1.5g) into the matcha bowl, pour 100 ml of hot water (80 °C) over it, and whisk vigorously with a chasen. Make "M" shaped movements until a thick foam forms, then add more water to your liking. This takes less than 30 seconds.

02

Preparing matcha with a milk frother is an even simpler method. Put 1 regular teaspoon of matcha (1.5g) into a mug or glass, pour a small amount (100ml) of hot water (80 °C) and mix thoroughly. Add water to your liking. 1 teaspoon is usually enough for 200-250ml of matcha. Instead of water, you can also add juice or milk to your matcha.

03

Matcha can be prepared in a shaker, both hot and cold. Simply put a portion of matcha tea inside, close it tightly, and shake vigorously a few times. You can even do this in a mineral water bottle!

04

Preparing matcha latte: Mix a teaspoon of matcha with a small amount of hot water. Add hot frothed milk (plant-based or cow's milk). You can sweeten your matcha latte with a spoonful of honey, maple syrup, or agave syrup.
