The Hibana bowl is the result of an inspiring collaboration between Moya and Baobab Studio, a family-run workshop founded by Natalia and Olaf. They fell in love with ceramics while studying at the People’s University in Wola Sękowa and have since treated it not only as a way of life, but as their greatest passion.
Hibana is the perfect bowl for drinking matcha. Each piece is one of a kind, shaped by hand, and its dynamic, fiery character reflects the meaning of its name – sparks and bursts of flame. Subtle colour transitions and an irregular texture give it remarkable depth and character. All Baobab Studio pieces are crafted in Białystok. The Hibana bowl is a unique work of art that combines Polish craftsmanship with Asian inspiration. The bowl is dishwasher safe on a delicate cycle.
The traditional way to prepare matcha comes from the Japanese Tea Ceremony. It involves using a matcha bowl, a bamboo whisk- chasen and a bamboo spoon- chashaku.
Place 2 chashaku spoons of matcha (1,5g) in a matcha bowl and pour 100ml of hot water (80 °C). Chasen in hand, vigorously whisk your matcha from the wrist in m-shaped, not circular, motion. In about 20 seconds your bowl should be filled with a perfect jade-green foam. You can add more water now if you like your matcha to be less strong.
