The Shimo matcha bowl is the result of an inspiring collaboration between Moya and Baobab Studio—a family workshop founded by Natalia and Olaf. They fell in love with ceramics at the Folk University in Wola Sękowa and treat it not only as a way of life, but as their greatest passion.
Shimo is a bowl perfect for enjoying matcha. Each piece is unique, handcrafted, and its speckled pattern lends it a personal touch. Baobab Studio’s pieces are made in Białystok. The Shimo bowl is a one-of-a-kind work of art that blends Polish craftsmanship with Asian inspiration. The vessel is dishwasher-safe on a gentle cycle.
The traditional way to prepare matcha comes from the Japanese Tea Ceremony. It involves using a matcha bowl, a bamboo whisk- chasen and a bamboo spoon- chashaku.
Place 2 chashaku spoons of matcha (1,5g) in a matcha bowl and pour 100ml of hot water (80 °C). Chasen in hand, vigorously whisk your matcha from the wrist in m-shaped, not circular, motion. In about 20 seconds your bowl should be filled with a perfect jade-green foam. You can add more water now if you like your matcha to be less strong.
