Choseki mug

The CHOSEKI mug is a new addition to our collection of tea bowls. It’s an unique vessel for drinking leaf tea and other infusions. The pattern depicting waves inspired us to name the mug “choseki,” meaning “tide.” It symbolizes good luck and good fortune, which is why it is often used on Japanese fans and kimono. The mug is made of clay and then hand-painted. To preserve the beauty of the Japanese design, do not wash the mug in the dishwasher.

What is matcha?

Matcha is powdered green tea obtained from tea plants that are specially shaded from direct sunlight before harvest. This results in higher chlorophyll and antioxidant contents and a richer, greener color. After harvesting, the fresh leaves are steamed, dried and ground to powder in traditional mills. Contrary to regular brewed tea, when drinking matcha, we consume the entire tea leaf and this way we supply our body all nutrients contained in matcha tea including those that are insoluble.
