Enzan (炎山) can be translated as “fire mountain.” The name evokes the raw power of nature, the energy hidden deep within the earth, and the glow of sun-warmed rocks at sunset. Its deep shade of red gives the bowl a striking character, catching the eye from the very first glance.
The bowl is handcrafted from ceramic and finished with a warm, richly saturated glaze. Its simple form lets the intensity of the colour take centre stage, while subtle variations in the glaze mean every piece is one of a kind.
Enzan was created for those who appreciate bold accents and want to bring a distinctive character to their everyday matcha ritual. It combines energy, warmth, and respect for traditional ceramic craftsmanship. Each bowl is handmade, so its appearance and dimensions may vary slightly from those shown in the photo.
The traditional way to prepare matcha comes from the Japanese Tea Ceremony. It involves using a matcha bowl, a bamboo whisk- chasen and a bamboo spoon- chashaku.
Place 2 chashaku spoons of matcha (1,5g) in a matcha bowl and pour 100ml of hot water (80 °C). Chasen in hand, vigorously whisk your matcha from the wrist in m-shaped, not circular, motion. In about 20 seconds your bowl should be filled with a perfect jade-green foam. You can add more water now if you like your matcha to be less strong.
