HANA is a distinctive matcha bowl inspired by the subtlety of Japanese aesthetics and the quiet beauty of everyday ritual. In Japanese, hana means “flower” – yet it also carries the spirit of elegance, beauty, and bloom. It is a story about harmony, delicacy, and finding something extraordinary in fleeting moments.
The soft grey glaze is hand-brushed with cherry blossom motifs, drawing from the tradition of Japanese sumi-e ink painting. The delicate sakura pattern lends the piece a sense of lightness and quiet refinement – an aesthetic deeply rooted in simplicity and nature.
The calm palette and organic form invite stillness – whether for a morning matcha or an evening moment of rest. HANA was created to transform everyday moments into a small, intentional ritual full of harmony and mindful presence.
The traditional way to prepare matcha comes from the Japanese Tea Ceremony. It involves using a matcha bowl, a bamboo whisk- chasen and a bamboo spoon- chashaku.
Place 2 chashaku spoons of matcha (1,5g) in a matcha bowl and pour 100ml of hot water (80 °C). Chasen in hand, vigorously whisk your matcha from the wrist in m-shaped, not circular, motion. In about 20 seconds your bowl should be filled with a perfect jade-green foam. You can add more water now if you like your matcha to be less strong.
