The Botan cup is a traditional vessel for preparing and drinking tea and infusions. Its irregular walls make it fit perfectly in the hand. In this specific culture, the beauty, elegance and resilience of the peony have earned it the title of queen of flowers. In Japan in the 18th century, the peony was a widespread symbol in crafts, commonly used as a decorative element in tapestries, paintings, ceramics and kimonos. It is often used in Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging.
