MATCHAWAN SHIMO
Shimo is the result of an inspiring collaboration between Moya and Baobab Studio – a Polish family workshop founded by Natalia and Olaf. For them Ceramics, which they fell in love with at the Folk University in Wola Sękowa, are way of life and their greatest passion. Shimo is an ideal bowl for enjoying matcha and loose-leaf teas. Each piece is unique, crafted by hand, and the speckled pattern gives it a personal character. Baobab Studio’s products are created in Białystok, in picturesque Podlasie in Poland. Shimo is a unique work of art that combines Polish craftsmanship with Japanese aesthetics. The bowl is dishwasher-safe on a delicate cycle. Unused, it will be a beautiful decoration for kitchen furniture.
The traditional way to prepare matcha comes from the Japanese Tea Ceremony. It involves using a matcha bowl, a bamboo whisk- chasen and a bamboo spoon- chashaku. Place 2 chashaku spoons of matcha (1,5g) in a matcha bowl and pour 100ml of hot water (80 °C). Chasen in hand, vigorously whisk your matcha from the wrist in m-shaped, not circular, motion. In about 20 seconds your bowl should be filled with a perfect jade-green foam. You can add more water now if you like your matcha to be less strong. |
